Important Safety, Use, and Storage Information

Usage Instructions

Body Oil: Apply liberally to entire body anytime. For an added boost of moisture, apply to damp skin after a shower.

Beard Oil: Apply a few drops of oil to your palms and rub together, distributing the oil across your hands. Rub your hands up and down across your beard. You’ll also want to take your oiled up fingers and massage the oil into your skin, ensuring you are getting the roots of your beard. For best results apply after a shower to a clean, slightly damp, but towel dried beard.

Bath Oil: Run a warm bath and add up to 2 tablespoons of oil. You can add the oil under the water spout as the bath is running to distribute the oil. You can also add the oil to the already filled tub and slip in to the bath through the oil and massage the oil into your skin. Or you can massage the oil into your skin prior to getting into the tub. After your bath pat yourself dry with a towel (don’t rub). Please use caution getting in and out of the bath, as the tub will be slippery.

Shower Oil: Apply oil to entire body a few minutes before showering. Or you can apply oil to your entire body as your last step in your shower routine. After your shower either dry your body naturally or pat yourself dry with a towel (don’t rub). Please use caution getting in and out of the shower, as the base will be slippery.

Massage Oil: Pour a small amount of oil into your hands and rub your palms together to warm up the oil. Massage the oil into your skin using slow and gentle movements.

Hair Oil: There are various ways to use as a hair oil, whether you massage into your scalp, or apply to dry and frizzy ends.

Anointing Oil: Feel free to use these oils in your spiritual practice as your intuition guides you.

Mists: Shake bottle before use. Spray in your space as needed to shift the energy or cleanse the air. Mists can be stored in the refrigerator for a more invigorating spray.

Sensitivities

Even though all Cozy Hermit Essences products are made with natural ingredients, they can cause reactions in susceptible individuals. Please patch test before use, especially if you have sensitive skin.

Do not use these products if you are sensitive or allergic to body oils, essential oils, or other similar ingredients. Use of these products is not recommended if you have allergies to nuts, plants/herbs, or other natural essences. Cozy Hermit / Cindy Norton will not be held responsible for any sensitivities caused by the use of these products.

Precautions

Do not allow products to come into contact with your eyes. Thoroughly wash your hands after application.

Some essential oils can be harmful to animals, so please keep products safely stored and do not use around your pets.

Those who are pregnant, breastfeeding, have a kidney disorder, or are taking certain medications will need to use caution as certain essential oils are contraindicated.

Certain essential oils (particularly citrus) can cause photosensitivity. This means that if you apply photosensitive oils to the skin and are exposed to the sun you can develop redness, burning, itching, blisters, or permanent skin discoloration. Please use caution when using products in the sun.

Care & Storage

Because only fresh, natural ingredients are used in Cozy Hermit Essences it is best to use products within one year. However, I recommend using them within 3 to 6 months for the very best quality and freshness.

Because there are no preservatives or harmful chemicals added to the products, they can go bad if not cared for or stored properly. Store products in a cool, dark space and do not allow them to sit in sunlight or direct heat (such as in your car). Do not allow products to come into contact with water (not even a drop) or any other biological agents, as this can invite in mold and bacteria.

I understand that you may want to use these products sparingly because they are so special, but I ask you to use them abundantly while they are most fresh. How many times have you sparingly used a product that you loved because you wanted to save it and make it last, only to find out that it went bad and you had to throw it away? Don’t let this happen to your Cozy Hermit Essences products!

Katie Vie of River Island Apothecary

Katie Vie of River Island Apothecary

Aromatherapy Mentor

I want to take a moment to give thanks and gratitude to my mentor Katie Vie of River Island Apothecary. Through her Archetype + Aroma class I learned to create therapeutic healing blends using intuition and sensory wisdom. I now have a totally different lens through which I see and experience oils, essences, and aromas. There is now a relationship and connection with the plants that was missing before. I am thankful for all that I have learned from Katie thus far, and all that I will continue to learn with her support, mentorship, and guidance.

Anti-Racism & Decolonization Promise: I am committed to unlearning ways of being that are steeped in capitalism, colonialism, patriarchy, racism, & white supremacy. Although I will stumble along the way, I promise to make space in my programs for nuances, conversations, & feedback on topics of race, gender, sexuality, class, disability, & other identities from folks with lived experiences of oppression that I do not share.

Land Acknowledgement: With gratitude & respect I acknowledge that the land on which I live & work is the stolen territory of the Cherokee people (ᏣᎳᎫᏪᏘᏱ Tsalaguwetiyi). I honor this land & its stewards - past, present, & future. I encourage learning about the land you are on at native-land.ca in addition to reflecting on your role in reconciliation, building meaningful relationships, & responsibly and reciprocally caring for the land.
