Cindy Norton Stokes

Hi y’all! I’m Cindy. You may have initially come to know me as a therapist and the previous owner of AVL Couples Therapy, or as a coach, retreat leader, and podcaster at Mountain Practice Journeys, or as a shirt designer at my Arcane Nerds Etsy Shop. Or you may not know me at all and this is our first introduction. However you found yourself here, I want to give you a genuine and cozy welcome.

Much of my work as a coach and mentor has been focused on supporting mystics, introverts, and highly sensitive people – because that’s who I am and I intimately understand this combination. As I am working to better understand myself and what it means to be a human in this life, I have a strong desire to support others in this way as well.

For many years now I have been experiencing being called more and more into my mystical nature, and it’s something that I can’t continue to ignore in favor of a “regular” life in this capitalistic society that I find myself more and more repulsed by with each passing day.

I personally believe that we are going through a major collective awakening. Not only are we awakening to many of the horrors of our worldly society and many loathsome ways of being are coming to light – we are also being awakened to ourselves. We are being awakened to our intuition and to our power to make positive change.

I love to support others in coming to really, truly know themselves and to trust their own intuition and inner knowing. I love helping you to slow down and begin to trust the seasonal nature of things – including you. We are not meant to be constantly growing (Spring) and “crazy busy” (Summer). We are meant to incorporate more time for gratitude and release (Autumn), as well as deep rest and contemplation (Winter).

Here at the Cozy Hermit Coven I offer you a sanctuary where you can retreat to get to know yourself and to allow yourself some rest. And from that place of well-rest and innate knowing you can gain clarity from which to take real, meaningful action in your life from a place of alignment.

Anti-Racism & Decolonization Promise: I am committed to unlearning ways of being that are steeped in capitalism, colonialism, patriarchy, racism, & white supremacy. Although I will stumble along the way, I promise to make space in my programs for nuances, conversations, & feedback on topics of race, gender, sexuality, class, disability, & other identities from folks with lived experiences of oppression that I do not share.

Land Acknowledgement: With gratitude & respect I acknowledge that the land on which I live & work is the stolen territory of the Cherokee people (ᏣᎳᎫᏪᏘᏱ Tsalaguwetiyi). I honor this land & its stewards - past, present, & future. I encourage learning about the land you are on at native-land.ca in addition to reflecting on your role in reconciliation, building meaningful relationships, & responsibly and reciprocally caring for the land.
